Bernadette L. Peters, born Bernadette A. Lazzara, born in Ozone Park Queens New York on 28 February 1948 is a singer/songwriter, as well as a writer of children's books. In her five decades of professional career her appearances have been in television and musicals as well as solo concerts and recorded albums. The actress was nominated, and she won 3 Drama Desk Awards. The four Broadway album of cast on which she has starred have won Grammy Awards. Peters initially appeared on the stage when she was a kid, and later as an actor of her teens in the 1960s and in film and TV in the 1970s.
